oh, i forgot to mention the remaining 5 were Hokies
Actually, that's the second team roster. ^^^^
I'm glad to see UT waxing the left coast Golden Boys but you have to admit if Cal could catch the ball it would at least be half interesting
Their O line is not helping them either. Neither are their db's.
I guess all the talking heads yaking up the Nation Title aspirations for Cal are now quieted. Now for the Razorbacks......here's hoping!
Think God for Cutcliff. They need to ship old Fulmer out. Looks like ole coach Cut was the real man behind the wheel.
good win for the vols today, ainge looked very good! the WR for tennessee looked very good! tennessee d shut down cal all game long! good game vols...
Congrats TENNESSEE WoOt wOoT......
But according to the annoiuncers the real Cal didn't show up . They will later in the season
Of course they will. They start playing the Slack 10.
figures tennessee get no love
I agree that UT looked impressive on both sides of the ball, but its only one game. I do believe that they can win the SEC East though.
true it's just one game, but thats a good way to start the season!
I hope they can win the east but it's a long season.. gators are gonna be good and them dawgs will be tough
The Gators are overrated, as Ironlung previously stated. I dont see the Dawgs beating UT.
The Dawgs didn't look too great today either against powerhouse Western Kentucky. The best play of the game was the UGA punt returner throwing the ball through the endzone from the 3 before he scored for a touchback.
I'll give the O a B- and the D a B+.
Don't understand what Fulmer and Cut were thinking pulling Ainge with 5 minutes left in the 3rd. Not exactly the right time to let up. Should have left the first team in until at least the 10:00 mark of the fourth.
Defense was solid. Didn't like letting them get into the end zone twice though. Didn't like seeing the good old mustange package in the third Q either.
But a W is a W. First win over a Top 10 team in Neyland since 99. Plenty to build on for next week and hopefully for the week after next.
You're doing something right when a QB throws for more TD's in the first game as he threw in the first 10 games last season. Just wish they would have kept going to Meacham so he could have broken Kelly Washington's single game receiving record.
As an aside and to continue the thread-jack, I remember going to VPI games in the late 80s and being able to sit ANYWHERE in the stadium. I remember wearing a VPI hat to school and nobody knowing who they were. The VPI fans have come out of the damned bushes since Senor Mexico hyped them up. Any discussion of bandwagon fans in this area begins and ends with those who support the Castrated Turkey contingent.

You can't judge UF based on today's game. USM is one of the stronger teams out there, they always play SEC teams tough.
UGA, OTOH, did put a lot of points on the board, but they were playing a I-AA team.
I'm not basing UF on SM. I know SM is good, they've given everyone fits. I'm talking about the injuries they've had, what the great Urban Oscar Meyer has said about his running game, and the nightmare they're going to have with the whole Tebow/Leak situation. It should be fun to watch.

First L in Gainesville and there's going to be a lot of infighting. The great and mighty C.U.M will be under fire.
Tebow will be playing by week 3.
God, I hope so. They play UT in two weeks. Of course, it's not like Chrissy has had alot of success against UT.
I believe everyone in the NCAA is either overrated or underrated after week 1. For instance a team whoops up on someone they`re world beaters, but take into account nearly every offense plays their worse game starting the season, Especially young Offenses. It`s hard to get a good view of just how good teams really are because of the first game jitters and turnovers.

GOD I hope that's true. Over 500 today for UT.
and Some also play their best Just too much nerves and turnovers and everything going on first week.
One of the biggest problems UT had last year, and truthfully the last couple was discipline. Not just off the field but on it, and that's something that Cutcliffe gets. I think that Sanders didn't have the respect that Cutcliffe has or gets, its accountability. Honestly most of the time I always felt like Sanders was over his head. Even if Tenn. loses, I don't feel that way with Cutcliffe.

when was the last time they actually had anyone descent on there schedule except for the canes.
USC a couple of years ago.
I got to go to this game. Vols looked pretty good. I don't think Cal was anything special but took care of business.
They keep this up that might get back to a bowl this year.

Well, let's see. We had Georgia Tech last season who beat Auburn, (a 51-7 win) and we has an 11-1 WVU team that beat UGA in their back yard.
The year before we had USC, a highly ranked WVU team we beat and undefeated Auburn who we lost to 16-13 in the Sugar.
While I would like to play a little tougher OOC schedule it's out of my control. USC would have never been on the schedule if it hadn't been the BCA kickoff in DC. LSU is next season and then a series with Nebraska (home and away). And you can approach teams but you can't make them play you. Others can approach teams about lucrative deals to play, but they can't force someone to play you either.
I guess if someone wants to they can start a thread on teams you'd like to see Tech play. But this is, of course, a UT/Cal thread
LSU, Nebraska, Ohio State, Wisconsin, USC, Clemson (when we were in the Big East)...all teams that we've scheduled in the recent years

Actually Corso said earlier in the week that Cal would lose to UT and go on a tear and still win the NC.
He picked Cal yesterday on Game Day. But later when they were making fun of him he said they'd win out.
